birthday spoils.

Yesterday was my birthday. My amazing friends took me out the night before for a movie, drinks, and dinner. The day of, it was awesome to celebrate with going to a concert by one of my favorite bands, A Perfect Circle. The show was awesome, the venue was gorgeous, the sound and crowd vibe, and everything was perfect. They played everything that I was hoping to hear, and even the songs I didn't care so much for sounded awesome. It was great to see APC again after a bad experience the first (and last) time that I saw them, back when I was still in high school and they just started off.

business in the back, party in the front.

What I Used:
- Zoya - Anchor base coat
- Sally Hansen - Midnight in NY
- OPI - Spark de Triomphe

My birthday marks the fact that I have 2 more weeks left of freedom before I start back in school with my wonderful no-days-off schedule. Hopefully I can make the most of it!

sick.sad.insomniac.

Still sick. Still not sleeping. What's a girl to do? Certainly not something constructive or self-enriching. No, sir. I've been filling my nights-turned-mornings with Edward Norton movies (I'm running out of his movies to watch... Someone hold me.), internet window shopping, and knitting. Yes, knitting.

I have also managed to become bored with my previous nail color already. Keeping up with the "wish I were _____" theme, my thoughts and wishes (and nails) are still beach-bound. My reality is still stuck right where I left it.

First sand, now water-y-ish, I guess:

What I used:
- Zoya - Anchor base coat
- Barry M - Silver
- OPI - Mermaid's Tears
- INM - Northern Lights top coat (or, holographic sparkly awesomeness)

..and cotton candy yumminess for kicks and comfort.

I had seen a YouTube tutorial by klairedelys a good while back and thought I'd give the gradient nail thing a shot. I like it, though I think I could do better. Maybe next time!

Why, hello there.

I've never been very good at keeping a blog. I prefer the old-fashioned, tangible journal-y journals (I'm less terrible at keeping those, but still terrible nonetheless). Not that that's much of an excuse.

I promise that my life hasn't been of skydiving and hidden treasure discoveries. Often, it's just a monotonous school-work-sleep mode. Well, with atypical drama junk and moodiness, but I'm sure people would much less like to read about it than I would like to write about it.

Anyway.

A blog that I follow, Broke & Beautiful, is holding a contest, and I thought it might be a good way to maybe get back into the swing of things. Basically, the idea is to post self-done mani/pedicures to either show off the skills or hopefully develop some new ones.

So without further ado, I give you my first photos of a self-done manicure:

I'd rather be at the beach but I'm stuck at work...

...and then sick in bed.

The idea behind my color choice was sand and shells. Which I have neither of, sadly. I might need to add that I'm guilty of being a fan of those conventionally "ugly but hurts so good" colors.

Here's what I used:
- Zoya Anchor base coat
- Sephora by OPI - Under My Trenchcoat
- Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure (LOVE THIS STUFF SOMETHIN SERIOUS)
- Seche Vite top coat

I promise that the gorgeous flaky rainbowness of Hidden Treasure is much prettier than shown. Now, I'm no photographer by any means, so please don't hold that against me. My weapon of choice (due to convenience and financial woes) is simply the camera that's on my phone, which has a few ailments due to my brother's love for tinkering with electronics (ie. if it ain't broke, make it better... sometimes). Even with this all in mind, I didn't want to miss out on the action.

Apologies for the rambliness. It's been a while.

Heyyy it's the new year.

Happy New Year. Of course, I should probably list my resolutions and goals for the year and yada yada yada, but... what can I say. I'm lazy. Why fight it? Maybe next post.

My new year's eve was a bit... uneventful? It was basically a waste of makeup and a good hair day. I had some drinks, felt awkward, went home pre-midnight. Someone in the ?next court? was setting off some pretty spectacular fireworks.

I think that I had a "drive-by visitor" also, around 1 a.m. I heard a car noise that was familiar (and I should mention that I am indeed aware of how weird that sounds), paired with a strong spidey-sense that made me jump up to look. I saw the color of the car, part of the headlights, and taillights. I keep second-guessing what car I think it was. I know my cars pretty well in my opinion, but I just don't really trust what I saw. It could just be paranoia, but I dunno. I'm not quite sure if I want my intuition to be right or wrong.. but either way it's a bit creepy. It doesn't help that it kinda ties into the bad dreams I've been having lately about having a stalker...
No thanks.

who needs an intro

You always seem to think that I can associate smells with particular memories or otherwise unrelated objects to a T.

The store got in new candles today.

Yankee Candle - Bahama Breeze
...smells like old fruit cups left in the sun. Not a fan.

More to come.

In other news, I also wanted to share that the group project (yeah, the one with that lazy ass dude and drama) finally got graded. We've all been stalking SacCT somethin serious waiting for updates.

We got 85/100. ;B

Now, to get the final grade for the semester... I think they should all be in by the first week of January. Hopefully everything works out.
